C.A.R.S. debt, help needed?
hi, i’m 16 and round about april i joined fitness first. i paid the £40 the first month. i recently lost my job so i wasn’t getting paid. i signed a 12 month contract with them. i know i should have went down to the gym and explained my situation with them. instead what i did was cancelled my direct debit. i got told to do this by someone which i know i probably shouldn’t have done.
about a month ago i got a letter from a debt place called CARS. Saying that i owe them £300. they also phoned me a few days ago.
i’m not sure what to do on the letter it said they could send bailiffs round, take me to court and have this on their register for six years.
i read somewhere on the internet that it would be bad for them if they took me to court.
i’m really worried just now and i’m not sure what to do, does anyone have any advise. thanks so much.
if you are under the age of 18 in the us you cannot legally sign a installment contract I would make a copy of the Birth certificate or Drivers License with License # blacked out and call the CARS company and ask who do i direct this information to as an attempt to dispose of a non legal transaction on behalf of the gym in question that Knowingly entered into a contract that was void and noncollectable at the time of inception. also send the same question to the Gym and ask who you send this information to have the entire debt canceled with documentation to that effect so that it will not appear later after you turn 18.
